How macroscopic properties dictate microscopic probabilities

چکیده
Given that quantum theory is probabilistic, is there a fundamental physical principle that dictates the form of the quantum probability law? We will argue that, indeed, the assigned probabilities for a given test performed on a large sample of identical systems are dictated by the classical-like properties of macroscopic systems. Consider a sample of N identically prepared nonentangled spins in the state uc&. The state of the sample is then

Do macroscopic properties dictate microscopic probabilities ?
Aharonov and Reznik have recently argued that the form of the probabilistic predictions of quantum theory can be seen to follow from properties of macroscopic systems. An error in their argument is identified .
متن کاملCellular Automata Simulation of a Bistable Reaction-Diffusion System: Microscopic and Macroscopic Approaches
The Cellular Automata method has been used to simulate the pattern formation of the Schlögl model as a bistable Reaction-Diffusion System. Both microscopic and macroscopic Cellular Automata approaches have been considered and two different methods for obtaining the probabilities in the microscopic approach have been mentioned. The results show the tendency of the system towards the more sta...
متن کاملA “v2-f Based” Macroscopic K-Ε Model for Turbulent Flow through Porous Media
In this paper a new macroscopic k-ε model is developed and validated for turbulent flow through porous media for a wide range of porosities. The morphology of porous media is simulated by a periodic array of square cylinders. In the first step, calculations based on microscopic v2 − f model are conducted using a Galerkin/Least-Squares finite element formulation, employing equalorder bilinear ve...
متن کاملSystems with two symmetric absorbing states: relating the microscopic dynamics with the macroscopic behavior.
We propose a general approach to study spin models with two symmetric absorbing states. Starting from the microscopic dynamics on a square lattice, we derive a Langevin equation for the time evolution of the magnetization field, that successfully explains coarsening properties of a wide range of nonlinear voter models and systems with intermediate states. We find that the macroscopic behavior o...
متن کاملMacroscopic analysis of robot foraging behaviour
Microscopic analysis is a standard approach in the study of robot behaviour. Typically, the approach comprises the analysis of a single (or sometimes a few) robotenvironment system(s) to reveal specific properties of robot behaviour. In contrast to microscopic analysis, macroscopic analysis focuses on averaged properties of systems. The advantage is that such a property is easier to generalise ...
